Current cravings

Pumpkins, strudels, spice, and everything nice

Adding to my collection of boyfriend blazers, oxfords, and silky blouses.

Picnics and more time outdoors.

Apartment therapy

Almost two months ago, Chris and I moved into our bare River Ridge apartment. And when Chris left for tour two days after, our apartment pretty much stayed that way until his mid-September return.

With his help, the assistance of wonderful in-laws, and re-purposing tips from a scattering of crafty magazines and blogs, we now have a fully-decorated apartment.

See for y'self:

Albeit, this is only a view of our living room/sunroom, but this is THE LIVING ROOM. It's what visitors first see when they walk through our door and where we're able to display our style and personality.

I think we accomplished.

I don't know if I'm a closeted hoarder, or if our background in the arts attributed to the number of artwork and frames we accumulated over the years, but I'm glad we decided to keep them. Who knew they would one day serve a different purpose?

Frames, which formerly housed out-dated prints, were emptied and either spray-painted, or offered themselves as new homes to fresh, patterned scrap-book paper.

Just proof that spending copious amounts of money (or time) on DIY decorating projects isn't necessary. All you really need are a few cans of spray-paint, patience, and a creative stay-at-home husband.

Only in dreams

If you knew me and René ten years ago, you'd know that this is a dream come true:

Weezer announces Blue Album/Pinkerton tour

Some people like to pretend Weezer ceased to exist after Pinkerton, but not us. It's hard to deny something that defined who you were through the better part of your middle-high school career. I mean, El Scorcho was the anthem of our Sunday afternoon drives. We ironed on well-known Weezer slogans (that only die-hards would recognize) to brand new craft store t-shirts.

Who were we?!

I think it's safe to say we would do the same thing now if this tour came anywhere within a 900-mile radius.

"oh the redhead said you shred the cello, and I'm jello, baby."

Red sky in the morning

I couldn't explain the sky this morning, so I tried to take a picture.

The clouds wanted to swallow the city whole.

beach, backslash, Monday coma

Today my mind is more this:

Than this:

Because I want to be home with this:

And these:

My dad always says to "go out and make it a great day...so show Monday your middle finger." I added that last bit, but it's good to keep in mind that your day is what you make it.

So that's what I'll do.

P'cola

Not Pepsi cola, but Pensacola.

This nice thing about New Orleans is, we're a little over three hours from the nearest Florida beaches, as opposed to the seven hour trek we normally make from Shreveport.

For the second time in a little over a year, we've been to the same beach and same hotel (maybe same room?) to celebrate another year of marriage. I believe we've started a tradition.

First, we were greeted by this:

And then by this:

We frolicked in the sun and sand

Then we made a friend:

Unfortunately, we had to leave froggie and the beach behind today, but they know we'll be back. Next year.

Emily's Book Club

This month's read (it's a thick one (that's what she said)):

I'm on page 104 of 642, but so far, so great.

History, mystery, father/daughter dialogue, European travel, murder, and Dracula.

So basically, your every-day romance novel.

and, goodnight!

Always Sunny

Apparently, these are two different people

When I first started watching It's Always Sunny, I swore up and down that "Mac" (top-Rob McIllhenny) was the now-grown-up Vinnie (bottom-David Lascher) from tv's Blossom. I was wrong.

Honest mistake though, am I right?

Who is that?

I am giddy and let me tell you why. After a little over a month (a month too long) I see this face in a few short (long) days.

Also, don't be jeals, but I'm going to the NFL kickoff this Thursday in Jackson Square with, what's that? Oh VIP tickets. No bigs.

I'm sure the readers that frequent this site are just THE BIGGEST football fans and would give their left breast to catch a glimpse of the Saints parade; not to mention Dave Mathews Band and Taylor Swift in the flesh. But I'll tell them you said hey while you're watching from your tv.

Basically, her mom is the cats pajamas and will do anything for her precious daughter (who, by the way, would give her left breast to see DMB). Can't wait to see those faces for some face time. Face space. She is my face. This is getting ridiculous.

Braggart

According to the most recent issue of AP (Alternative Press) magazine (on newsstands now), my husband is one amongst other "real guitar heroes."

Now, I didn't need a magazine article to tell me this, but the recognition is still very much deserving.

I am proud.

If I was still 12 and this was Tiger Beat, I'd have that taped to the inside of my locker with doodle hearts adorning those dimples.

advice

there's no point in obsessing over something you'll never have.
